HVNA Competition resumes for 2019

With summer sports wrapping up and finals series in full swing, last weekend the Hastings Valley Netball Association stepped back on the court to commence their 2019 season.  With extreme Autumn weather, 99 teams from across the 6 clubs dusted off their netball shoes for a hot first day back.

12 new ‘Set’ teams (new netta) excitedly joined the other 87 teams, on the start their netball journey. While they giggled their way through the first round, the older girls wrapped up the day with some tough, physical netball in Division 1. Saints St Agnus Parish 61 def Wauchope Fantails 20, Port Combined Fusion 50 def Panthers RSL 32, Saints Ryan Financial 25 def Port Combined Bravehearts 24.

With all clubs experiencing a growth in registrations, clubs have advised their teams are full for the season. Saints and Port Combined have recorded the biggest growth, with 27 and 26 teams respectively, and are set to take that tussle on to the courts.

Sunday saw our littlest members play at their annual gala day, with 18 teams braving even hotter conditions for their 4 game round robins.

Our 2019 representative teams have been training for a few months in preparation for the 2019 State Titles in June and July. Our U17’s and U15’s headed to Nambucca for the first of the regions rep carnivals. Our U15’s had a strong day, winning all their games before organisers cancelled the tournament due to the 42 degree temperature on the court. Coach Natalie Jordan was pleased with their results, while U17’s coach, Stephanie Fraser was happy with their first hit out and their ability to handle the extreme temperatures.

Thursday night social competition commences on May 2, 2019. Registration will be open soon, so time to start getting your teams together.
